Curse of Years Application form.
Remember your application is the first impression we have on you, be as in depth as possible on all areas of the application.

General:

Your Name, Age, Gender and Location:
Daniel O’Connor
30
Male
Dublin, Ireland

Tell us a little bit about yourself (non-WoW related Interests, Hobbies etc)
My name is Dan and I’m from Dublin in Ireland. I work for a large retailing organisation where I’ve a weird fancy title, but basically work in IT.
I live with my Girlfriend and our two daughters (2 and 4) and my interests are Football, Golf, video games and TV shows.

Character Information:

I’m applying here with my Mage. It’s a relatively fresh 120. I have mained a Warlock since Cataclysm and have become a bit burnt out with the class and looking for a change. There was indication that you might be interested in a mage and as I’ve played my mage in multiple previous expansions I know I’m confident in my enjoyment of the class and my ability to get it up to raid level for next tier.

I would be willing to put the extra effort in over the holidays to have this character brought up to whatever is required.

Describe your choice of talents and why you've chosen them:

I haven’t played much of my mage this tier but there isn’t huge changes to how the class operates.

Choice of talents for frost is pretty straight forward. IF/EB/CS/GS for almost all content unless it’s 2 target cleave, then I’ll swap to Splitting Ice. LW/FT are showing as almost equal DPS to their counterparts but remove abilities making the rotation a bit less fun.

Fire is similar a ‘cookie cutter’ build of ST/RoP/FO/Conflag/Metor - the 60 and 90 tier change a lot depending on the fight if I want FP or PF for cleave/AoE fights etc..

How do you prioritize your stats and why?
Frost
Crit to 33.34% is the biggest gain providing I can keep all my other stats in line, after that I would just sim what’s best, I’m not close to being in that situation yet but I do always sim myself with new gear to ensure I’m not gimping myself gear/stat wise.

Fire:
Fire changes heavily depending on your gear levels all stats can be best so it’s a case of keeping on top of the simming, the spec is mastery heavy due to meteor and mastery keeps improving the more targets so I lean on that currently.

Arcane:
I haven’t put as much time into Arcane at the moment, it doesn’t have a use outside of pure single target which isn’t helpful for my current situation. I’ll be doing m+ where I would aim to gear up so instead of just quoting something from a website I’ll just say if Arcane was going to be better for any of the fights I’d make sure I’m simming myself and have the best setup for it also.

What state is the state of your Heart of Azeroth?
Currently level 19, but will farm this up over the holidays and time I have off work.

Link to your raid logs using using LINK.:
I don’t have logs on my mage.
This is my lock in heroic in 8.0 , just pug raiding and not taking it too seriously.

Raiding History:

Describe your previous/current raiding experience:
BFA was one of the first expansions that I went into not Mythic raiding.

I have been raiding in its various forms since Vanilla, but really only doing it in a proper structure since WOTLK. There has been only a few tiers where I’ve not progress raided due to either IRL commitments or friends quitting the game.

Tell us about your previous guilds and your reasons for leaving them:

BFA was one of the first expansions that I went into not Mythic raiding and therefore having no real guild. I joined your guild as a social due to a number of people I know in your guild.

In WoD I was raiding in a Mythic raiding guild called Lost and Abandoned on Ravencrest, before stepping up to a higher level roster with a friend, to a guild called Motion. I continued with Motion until they disbanded due to officer burnout, where I got picked up along with my friend by Alterac Deviants.

I went into Legion with AD, but due to the pending birth of my second child, I decided I could not commit to the requirements of the mythic raiding team and went social. I continued playing socially until Nighthold, where I joined a guild called Enlightened (which had a number of your current roster). The guild experienced an exodus of a significant portion of the raiding team, I stayed with Enlightened and continued raiding. The guild folded before Antorus released, and I decided to stop Mythic raiding and play WoW Casually.

More Information:

Can you meet our raid schedule of Wed/Thur/Mon 21:00 to 00:00 server time with at least 90% attendance?
Yes. I'm sure like anyone real life stuff can come up, but I'm always conscious to provide good advanced notice

We also raid on Sunday at the start of a new raiding tier. Are you aware of this?
Yes

Are you able to Listen and Speak on Teamspeak?

Yes

What qualities do you bring to a Raid?
    Reliable attendance
    Fast learner
    Willingness to listen
Experienced in a Mythic raid team environment
Low maintenance, never de-rail focus with talking or joking
    Zero drama

How comfortable are you playing your offspecs?
Comfortable

How do you feel about progression raiding?
With BFA being the first expansion where I consciously went into it not progress raiding, it made me realise I don’t enjoy this game without it, and it has been tough not doing something I’ve done with regularity for such a long time

Where did you hear about Curse of Years and do you know anyone in the guild?
I rolled a Horde character just before BFA launch and joined CoY as a social. I know a number of your roster from a previous mythic raiding guild, and Kata is a close friend.

What encouraged you to apply to Curse of Years?
I had been toying with the idea of getting back into Mythic raiding the last while as my children how now got into a good routine and I can commit again to it. I’d also been encouraged by some people in the guild to look into applying.

Do you play outside of raid?
Yes, while I obviously have family commitments outside of raid times, I do tend to be on my PC a lot :D

Is there anything else you'd like to add to your application?
Just that I’d love to be considered. I’m a strong team player and an experienced raider down the years. I’m reliable, low maintenance and ego free, which means I’m comfortable making myself available as sub/bench or performing tasks or requirements for the betterment of the guild and raid team.

Tell us a joke: What do noobs and rogues have in common? They both pick locks
