General:

Your Name, Age, Gender and Location:

My name is Erlend and I am a 20 year old male from Trondheim, Norway.

Tell us a little bit about yourself (non-WoW related Interests, Hobbies etc)

Outside of WoW I enjoy playing league of legends, and I also enjoy reading fantasy literature, mountain climbing and downhill mountain biking. In the winter I also try to ski in the weekends.

Describe your choice of talents and why you've chosen them:

Currently for holy paladins every talent is viable with the exception of two, where each have different encounters where they are the best, I will do a rundown of each tier.

Level 15: In a raiding environment bestow faith is the go to here, as it is a cheap heal that heals for slightly more than HL / FoL with no cast time. Light's hammer can see it uses on short aoe heavy stack fights, such as ursoc, but it is extremely mana heavy and in general it is not worth it as usually you will not get full usage out of it. Crusaders might is my go to talent for M+, but for progression raiding you will not get the opportunity to use crusaders strike often unfortunately. On low healing fights such as dragons or even odyn it can be used, but BF is still by far the safer choice.

Level 30: Rule of law is the only choice for raiding, very good used together with our cds and the range increase can and will save lives. Cavalier is best for dungeons and unbreakable spirit if you have legendary hands.

Level 45: Not relevant for raiding.

Level 60: This is arguably one of the most debated tiers, as devotion aura has a tendency of not being chosen as it does not bring any HPS. The way I see this tier is that if there is any mechanic that will be able to oneshot the raid, such as ilgyonoth, devotion aura will always be the best choice no matter what. However, if the dmg is not a oneshot but is gradual dmg aura of sacrifice is the most powerful healing cooldown in the game currently, and on a fight such as guarm it will outheal the dmg devo wouldve prevented. Aura of mercy is the best choice on fights without huge bursts of dmg, which is most fights really.

Level 75: In this tier your choices is not very relevant, as they all bring roughly the same hps. With aura of sacrifice I would always use holy avenger here, but outside of that I prefer holy prism as I simply enjoy the playstyle more than divine purpose. On exceedingly long fights I may be convinced to go DP in order to conserve mana.

Level 90: Since I have the legendary ring JoL will be what I use for every single fight, with the exception when I run aura of sacrifice and I will need sanctified wrath.

Level 100: Beacon of the lightbringer and beacon of faith are both viable choices here, but for different fights. BoF is prefered when both tanks take consistent damage, such as guarm and ursoc. However, Botlb outshines BoF if only one tank takes damage at any given time, and it also allows you stay in ranged instead of melee which can be helpful on a number of fights.

How do you prioritize your stats and why?

Holy paladin stat priorities is very simple currently where it is Crit > Versa = Mastery > Haste.

Crit is VERY important to get to 30% due to the nature of holy shock during avenging wrath, and will still be our best stat all the way up to 50% due to how important holy shock is for our healing. Both the healing holy shock does itself and the proc ionization of light are very important to us. Versatlity is just a flat healing increase, and mastery is very good on some fights such as helya where you can stack, but very bad on other fights like nythendra where you wont be. Haste unfortunately makes us blow through our mana too quickly and therefore we will most of the time not want too much of it.

What do you think about Artifact and how important it is for your spec (traits etc)?

Artifact traits is pretty important up til we get our 3rd major trait, but after that there is only a HoS improvement and a lotm improvement which are both pretty awful. All flat healing increases however are very good.

Where do you acquire knowledge about your Class?

There is a holy paladin discord channel where a lot of the top holy paladins participate in theorycrafting which I am an active member of. Here there is also external sources such as spreadsheets for stats, some advice regarding talents etc.

Dont have anything in raid combat lying around, but I will try to upload something later today that includes my healing frames. For keybindings that are not visible here I have healing pot on G, flash of light and holy light on left and right click, cleanse on scroll down, hop on scroll up, holy prism on R. I think that is everything.

Raiding History, Tell us about your previous guilds and your reasons for leaving them: (I chose to incorporate both of these questions into one)

I started playing world of warcraft in vanilla, but due to a very young age I do not have any achivements of note from the period between vanilla - wotlk. I cleared most of the raids on normal difficulty and saw heroic on some. I took a break from WoW for the entire duration of Cataclysm and Mists of Pandaria.

When I came back to the game in Warlords of Draenor I had a lot of trouble with finding good guilds, so for HM I cleared 3/7M before BRF came out, 6/7 M while BRF was current. In BRF we cleared 6/10M before the release of HFC. I started off in HFC in Epiphany on Tarren Mill, but unfortunately I had just started university and they demanded more of my time than I could offer and I had to stop playing the game in august I believe. Took a raiding break until december where I created "Evanescence" on Tarren Mill with a friend, with the goal to at least finish the tier with cutting edge. Recruited the guild from scratch and were able to finish off Archimonde in February, but due to some issues with people just being dogshit mainly we decided to do a merger with another 13/13 M guild called Bad Choices, now Tilt Squad on Twisting Nether to farm raid until Legion and then have a strong roster for that. I wasnt very happy in this new merger and then in august again university stuff started coming up that I wanted to focus on, so I bailed out of the guild and did not start playing the game again before a while back in november. Currently in Emerald Nightmare I have 4/7 M including cenarius, that I have gotten from just joining my old guild on a reclear when they lacked people. In trial of valor I have 3/3 heroic that I have pugged.

More Information:

Can you meet our raid schedule of Wed/Thur/Mon 21:00 to 00:00 server time with at least 90% attendance?

No problem.

We are raiding Sundays at start of each Tier for 3-4 weeks. Are you aware of it?

Yes

Are you able to Listen and Speak on Teamspeak?

I have lived a year in the u.s. so I have no problems with writing, talking or listening to english.

What qualities do you bring to a Raid?

I believe I bring a very dedicated player and a very skilled healer to a raid team. I also have experience with finding tactics and the best way to do bosses, so if needed I do not mind helping with that. Usually I prefer just being quiet and focusing on doing my duties that Im assigned to and my role.

How do you feel about progression raiding?

Progression raiding is the most enjoyable aspect of WoW, while whoring for ranks on farm can be fun, it is pushing ranks and performance that is the most fun.

Where did you hear about Curse of Years and do you know anyone in the guild?

Snooped around on wowprogress for guilds looking for a holy paladin.

What encouraged you to apply to Curse of Years?

Good raiding hours, seems to be a very serious leadership and a good history with decent world ranks in raiding.

Do you play outside of raid?

Of course, I enjoy mythic + content very much and I will always strive to have my character as good as I can outside of raids.

Is there anything else you'd like to add to your application?

Unfortunately as I came back to the game a bit late I am behind on raiding experience in the current tier, and my equipped item level is only 880 and my AP level is only 29. However I am working hard to improve on all of these and given the chance, I will give everything to pull my weight and far more in raids. All I ask for is the chance to prove this.

Tell us a joke:

Girl : "Forgive me father for I have sinned."
Priest : "What have you done my child?"
Girl : "I called a man a son of a bitch."
Priest : "Why did you call him a son of a bitch?"
Girl : "Because he touched my hand."
Priest : "Like this?" (as he touches her hand)
Girl : "Yes father."
Priest : "That's no reason to call a man a son of a bitch."
Girl : "Then he touched my breast."
Priest : "Like this?" (as he touched her breast)
Girl : "Yes father."
Priest : "That's no reason to call him a son of a bitch."
Girl : "Then he took off my clothes, father."
Priest : "Like this?" (as he takes off her clothes)
Girl : "Yes father."
Priest : "That's no reason to call him a son of a bitch."
Girl : "Then he stuck his you know what into my you know where."
Priest : "Like this?" (as he stuck his you know what into her you know where)
Girl : "YES FATHER, YES FATHER, YES FATHER!!!"
(after a few minutes)
Priest : "That's no reason to call him a son of a bitch."
Girl : "But father, he had AIDS!"
Priest : "THAT SON OF A BITCH!!!"
