General:

Your Name, Age, Gender and Location:

Ryan, 25, Male, England

Tell us a little bit about yourself (non-WoW related Interests, Hobbies etc)

I’m a 25 year old guy currently working in retail while studying accounting, I have a real passion for numbers. If I’m not playing WoW I’ll probably either be studying or cycling or working.

Character Information:

Describe your choice of talents and why you've chosen them:

Tier 1: Torrent – This is a great tool for resto shamans increasing riptides initial heal by 40% which is great for spot healing low hp players, combined with echo of the elements this is the obvious choice.

Tier 2: This one depends on the fight if there is a lot of group movement I will take Wind Rush Totem as it is great utility on fights such as Elerethe Renferal, to move between platforms, to move away from vile ambush etc. If there is lots of personal movement such as Nythendra I prefer to take Graceful Spirit to allow me to heal more often while moving as well as giving me slight speed increase.

Tier 3: Lightning Surge Totem – Pretty obvious aoe stun for adds.

Tier 4: Again situational depending on fight, Deluge is a great choice if you can take advantage of the healing increase and keep a large number of people stacked inside healing rain. Ancestral guidance is the other choice which is great on all fights and really synergizes with the Shaman toolkit of AoE healing.

Tier 5: I have been experimenting on this tier with both Ancestral Vigor and Earthen Shield Totem, I find Earthen shield totem is great for steady incoming damage whereas Ancestral Vigor giving that extra 10% max hp is good for high incoming burst damage (Stacked with Artifact 10% hp increase).

Tier 6: Again situational Echo is good as it synergizes well with Torrent granting more charges of riptide, and synergizes with the Tidal Pools artifact trait, whereas cloudburst totem is great for storing up heals for potential incoming damage and allows you to release its healing at any time during its duration.
Tier 7: High Tide again another great synergy with the restoration Shaman toolkit, increase of AoE healing and works well with the increased chain heal from Deluge. Ascendance is also a strong choice of more Raid wide cooldowns are needed.

How do you prioritize your stats and why?

Mastery > Crit > Haste/Vers

Mastery is very strong for progression increasing healing done to target based on their current health lower the health more healing so great for those tight situations and for learning fights where mistakes can happen.

Crit is great throughput increase for the same reason as above as generally as a resto shaman you want to be spot healing low hp players due to our mastery so crit doesn’t generate much overhealing.

Haste has advantages and disadvantages of increasing throughput but also increasing mana usage so I have seen some arguments that just straight up vers is better as it also decreases damage taken and we already gain a lot of reduced cast time due to Tidal Waves and artifact traits (Queen Ascendant, Tidal Chains)

What do you think about Artifact and how important it is for your spec (traits etc)?

The artifact has a lot of merits majority are just throughput increases which of course are important but not necessary to the class just bonuses. The active is interesting giving another 10% hp increase to 6 players, same as one of our talents already does but multiple targets, as well as healing.

Where do you acquire knowledge about your Class?

I am currently in the Shaman discord where there is a lot of discussion about the class and I frequent forums and read guides on icy veins.

Very Basic UI I have weakauras for most boss abilities in EN and plan to in the near future get more Shaman Weakauras for important abilities.

Unfortunately as of current my guild prefers to run 3 healers on most fights so I’m having to learn fights as dps and have been pugging to learn fights as healer where I did not keep logs.

Raiding History:

Describe your previous/current raiding experience:

Currently 7/7 HC
Wod my experience is as follows
Highmaul 5/7 Mythic
BRF 6/10 Mythic
HFC 2/10 Mythic (Quit after killing 2nd boss as i had grown tired of the game.

Siege of Ogrimmar
11/12 HC pre mythic and left my guild 1 week before realm first, it was bad timing and i felt frustrated as i would spend all 20+ hours progressing and then be sat on the week of kills and this happened on 3-4 bosses in a row for someone else to learn the fight.

All experience before this I was not a Mythic/Heroic raider

Tell us about your previous guilds and your reasons for leaving them:

My current guild is Atom on Ragnaros, my main reason for leaving is because I am currently forced to DPS majority of fights and our recruitment hasn't been up to speed to push mythics which just isn’t good enough in my eye and I want a guild more in line with my own mindset.

More Information:

Can you meet our raid schedule of Wed/Thur/Mon 21:00 to 00:00 server time with at least 90% attendance?

Yes, these times are perfect for me as well as days.

We are raiding Sundays at start of each Tier for 3-4 weeks. Are you aware of it?

I have been made aware of it.

Are you able to Listen and Speak on Teamspeak?

Yes and yes.

What qualities do you bring to a Raid?

I’m a well-informed, highly motivated resto shaman with great healing as well as offspec dps capabilities.

How do you feel about progression raiding?

Progression raiding is the best kind of raiding.

Where did you hear about Curse of Years and do you know anyone in the guild?

Velisia/Mercedese told me about it and said he’d love to raid with me again so I should apply.

What encouraged you to apply to Curse of Years?

As stated above

Do you play outside of raid?

I have been pushing a lot of mythic+ and have gone as far as +8, farming WQ, and general farming outside of raid
Is there anything else you'd like to add to your application?
Unfortunately, next week I am going away from the 13th-16th October so will be unable to attend the Thursday and Sunday raids if I were to be accepted and join those raids.

Tell us a joke:

A man walks into a bar. Ouch.
Two men walk into a bar. You would have thought one of them had seen it coming.
