About You..

Your name, age, gender, hobbies?:
Hello! My name is James, Im 24 and i work as a business manager. Before that I worked for 7 years as a chef, and somehow found the time on my 1 day off a week to earn a degree in business management. Out of the game Im a huge game of thrones fan, go to the gym 5 days a week, girlfriend and my talent of getting up to totally random stuff... I lead a pretty busy life thesedays, so finding a guild with times that work perfectly for me is a huge priority, but i will go into that in more depth below.

Where are you from?:
UK (northener)

What's your PC spec, is it ready for 20 Mythic Raiding?:
m not too sure about my current PC specs, it has a frankenstein vibe about it thesedays. Currently It can run mythic perfectly well, with all graphics settings on medium/high. I am looking at completely updating my PC for the next WoW expac (i dont want any unforseen downtime on current content)

  • What spec you'r playing and what you can tell us about it (inc. talents, glyphs, most important usage of your abilities)?:
Just for the sake of sanity, im going to break down these questions into 2 parts. As in BRF im arcane on half and fire on the other half (roughly)

    Fire:

    Talents/ Glyphs:

I currently use fire as my go to spec for cleave/ AoE fights.

Talent and glyph wise i use a pretty standard build. I use Ice Flows as my tier 1 choice, as being able to cast while moving is beyond amazing in certain situations. Especially for those times when the pyro gods are against me. (All mages can relate to this at some point) For the tier 2 talents, i usually switch between Ice Barrier and flameglow. I personally prefer flameglow as it absorbs a lot more damage than Ice Barrier, but Ice barrier gives a lot more on demand survivability on high burst fights. Tier 3 is pretty useless and all the talents there are situational at best. Currently using frostjaw, as i use it on trash if a dangerous mob breaks out of cc and I already have a mob CC'd with polymorph. Tier 4: I switch these depending on what we are facing. If its a 2 target cleave I will go for blast wave, if it is more than 3 targets or there is a regular flood of adds spawning I will use living bomb. Fights like furnace/operator/maidens i personally prefer living bomb. Tier 5: Greater Invis, is by far the best choice in this tier, if you can predict when high damage is incoming, or dont feel like moving and solo soak a 1 shot mechanic. Tier 6: Just depends on how much movement there is in the fight. There are only a couple of fights in Foundry that I can reliably use Rune of Power. For the rest I use Incanters Flow. Tier 7: Im currently using Kindling as my main choice of talents in that tier. With the current fire 4set (when it finally decides to proc) reduces the cooldown on combustion by quite a lot. Anything that reduces the cooldown on probably the most broken AoE cooldown in the game, can only be a good thing right? =)

Glyphs are really straight forward. Glyph of combustion, Increases the duration of combustion, combined with Kindling, its an amazing glyph. I also use glyph of inferno blast as an extra target with dots, is always good! For my final glyph choice, i use Rapid Displacement. 2 blinks is so good.

    Doing damage:

Fireball until pyro + heating up. Once i have both ready to go, cast another fireball and pyroblast at the end of the cast. This gives me double the chance to get a crit, turning the heating up proc into a pyro. I try to hold an insta pyroblast, and fish for a heating up proc, and only use the pyro when heating up is active. When im preparing to use a combustion, i dump all pyro procs (and hope i get lucky) into my first target (builds up a nice ignite, then inferno blast x2 on the second target, switch back to the first, combust, Inferno blast again..et voila... massive deeps. There is also the usual stuff about making sure you never hold onto 2 charges of blastwave and if im using living bomb, let it detonate before refreshing.

But normally playing fire, i spend the whole fight casting fireball, and feeling really sad that my 4set trolled me again.

    Arcane

    Talents/Glyphs:

Arcane is one of the highest single target dps specs in the game, and thanks to the way they scale with mastery, they become truly broken in higher gear levels. I prefer playing fire to arcane, but if im honest, the gap in 'fun' between the two specs has closed massively thanks to the way arcane works in WoD. I only feel semi braindead when i play it now =)))))

My talent and glyph choices are the same as fire, and what is probably the arcane cookie cutter spec. Tier 5: Supernova, amazing on demand burst, timed with prismatic crystal. I also love troll tanks who move the boss away from the crystal because the hunters/boomkins have bribed them.

Glyph wise, the only real glyph for arcane is arcane power (doubles the duration and cooldown). Some mages say that it has to be used all the time no matter what. . Dont listen to them! =P Its extremely situational. I use the glyph on fights where i can get the most out of arcane power, and there is little movement involved, when i plan to use it. On certain fights where i need to burst often, i wont use the glyph. Fights like blackhand, i dont use it, as for my guilds strat, i was the one responsible for killing the first demo, depending on how many trials didnt move behind the tank, i needed to to a lot of damage to it in a very short space of time. I imagine wouldnt use the glyph on fights like mythic kromog, where the burst deeps is needed on the pillars. But again, its situational and works either way.

    Doing Damage:

On my opener/burst phase. I get 4 stacks, crystal-Arcpower (covers the global on crystal really well) If my 4set bonus is up (extra missiles in arcane missiles) I will prioritise that. So best case scenario: Arc missiles (4set) Nova, PoM arc blast, Nova, arc blast spam until im down to 4o% (ish) mana. At no point should you arcane barrage here, as instead of 1 tick of evo bringing you back to 90% mana, it will take 3-4 due to the way the evocation perk works. Conserve phase, is just hold at 90% mana and wait for cooldowns.

  • What stats are you prioritizing?:
MASTERYYYYYYYY. For the way mages are played in foundry, mastery is the god stat for arcane (single target) and also the god stat for fire AoE (hai Ignite) I can usually get away with using 1 set of gear with gems/enchants for both, with minimal changes. Haste and crit are simmed pretty close to each other for arcane. Loot wise its easy. Whatever has a gem slot =)
  • Where do you acquire information and knowledge about your class?:
Icyveins.. the usual. I also check up on lexi's mage compendium, as he spends far more time trying out different things with the gear he has access to.

  • Share your guild history as well as reason for leaving them and your current guild ?:
Due to my work/study commitments, It has been a long time since i have been able to be a reliable raider. Since changing careers last year (i no longer work 80-90 hours a week in a sweatbox whooo) I can finally raid properly.

    Wotlk:
    After Hours- Eonar
I joined them early ulduar, as it was one of the very few decent 25 man late night raiding guilds around at that time. I stayed with them for the rest of the expansion, until i left in early cataclysm.

    Conquer Spikes- Sylvanas
I knew a lot of people on sylvanas from tbc, and from messing about in wotlk. I changed mains (from Dk to Rogue) and played with them for a while, until they switched to alliance. As i had most of my friends playing horde, and my work hours became really unpredictable, I joined NQQB SQUAD, and messed about with those guys for a while. After a while, myself and a few others, changed to alliance, and joined GAMESENSE on outland. After that we broke off and formed SNAKES (was team fukster but the name got reported by a snake...swe logic) pretty much for the rest of Cata and MoP, i moved from server to server with my friends, and ended in some of the top pvp guilds in the world. My most recent was Arena Peak on sylvanas.

During cata, i played rogue. mage and priest characters to an extremely high standard. Mage has always been my favourite class. The ability to control an entire team while soloing someone in a deep freeze or topping dps metres on pretty much every fight, held a certain appeal to me.

Probably because they were extremely overpowered (and still are somewhat)

When WoD was announced, and my schedule changed to something a bit more normal, I decided to roll a shadowpriest and re-join after hours on eonar, and start again with raiding. Its something i have always enjoyed, but lacked the time to do it properly. After Hours almost immediately had a weak start to the expansion, due to some controversial leader decisions. A number of our top raiders and my long term friends were becoming really unhappy with raiding. We managed to stick together and we decided to split off and form Dead End on Ragnaros. We had been in discussions with another guild before the split, and came together to form a really amazing guild with a ton of potential. The first week raiding, with a really undergeared roster (average ivl 658), we cleared normal foundry, highmaul and 7/10 heroic. Long story short, people stopped signing up, the quality of recruits dropped, and then we had people become burned out. Our holy paladin took a step down from raiding, however he came with 7-8 friends who all stuck together. Unfortunately they decided to move on to an earlier guild, so they could continue playing together. This 1 move totally gutted the core raid team of the guild, and shattered our mythic ambitions. As the rest of the guild, currently wants to go social, and im really struggling with the late hours, Im now looking to move on. Coupled with the fact i have been wanting to progress in mythic since it was first announced.

  • Describe your past/current raid experience:
    3v3 S14 Gladiator 2502 rating
RBG s11 Hero of the Horde 2625 rating

    WoD: 7/7hm hc
10/10 brf hc Darmac 1% wipe (thanks to a mass dc) That was our last attempt in a mythic raid with Dead End. =(

More Information..

  • Raid times: Can you agree with our raid times 21:00 to 00:00 Server time (UTC+1 also Sunday for extra raids)?:
    wednesday, thursday, sunday, monday
  • Teamspeak: Can you use SPEAK and LISTEN to Teamspeak?:
    Yes
  • You and us: Would you be willing to modify or change your spec to assist the guild?:
    Yes
  • What our guild can benefit from your class and yourself as a player?:
Currently I see the guild has only 1(?) raiding mage. A guild is 100000x better with more mages. Warlocks are just aids in a dress. So there is that.

I have been around long enough, to realise the guild always comes before any individual player. This can come in the form of raid spots or loot distribution. Im not the kind of person, to kick off or complain. Im a team player, and I will do what i can to help the guild further progress and hit its targets for the tier.

Also im great for guild atmosphere. Im pretty approachable and I like to make my own fun in raids. (kill people on trash, pay people to use the whisp wand on whoever is close to me on the dps) Im always up for a joke.

  • What is your attitude towards progress/what motivate you in WoW?:
I love progress. Its that 1 attempt that happens on every boss, where everything clicks in, and the whole raid kicks it up a notch for the kill. Ultimately my biggest motivation is competition and my desire to get better, not just guild wide but also on global ranks.
  • Why would you like to play with us? What we got that others don't?:
You have stability. That is the big one for me currently. Also the fact that you are on the lookout for a really good mage, the raid times are perfect and the 3 day schedule is perfect for me.
  • Do you play outside raids or log only for them?:
I play quite a bit outside of raids. My motivation to PvP this xpac has totally gone, but i have found other random things to fill my time in game.
  • Anything to add?:
I have been juggling with sorting out a guild disband, along with trying t o write this application... so I may have overlooked certain areas. If I have, or if you want any more input from me on the questions above, please ask in the comments or on battletag! =) Eze#2356

Hi,

We decided to give you a chance of joining our ranks into mythic progression, although it will be a bumpy road at start due to gear limitation but we will get there.

Application accepted.

Cheers,
Y.
