Batto - Rogue

General:

Your Name, Age, Gender and Location:

My name is Agelos, 39 male, hailing from Athens, Greece

Tell us a little bit about yourself (non-WoW related Interests, Hobbies etc)

I am working in a game distribution company as a buyer. Not many hobbies outside of work, usually hanging out with friends & family or watching movies/tv shows.

Character Information:

Describe your choice of talents and why you've chosen them:
How do you prioritize your stats and why?
What do you think about Artifact and how important it is for your spec (traits etc)?
Where do you acquire knowledge about your Class?

I would like to answer these 4 questions together as I think they cover the same subject. For raiding I believe there is an optimal spec for each encounter. Some combination or spec will always do more dps than the others and when you try to reach the best results during progress you have to use it.

I am not good with numbers and don’t have the time to analyze talents in the dummy so I follow the rogue community which has always done a thorough and concrete job of providing the necessary information: optimal spec, talents, stat weights (although I sim for personal weights), rotation, openers and lately artifact path (Sin bleed spec, Outlaw RTB Fish 2+, or Vigor/Subterfuge/MoS sub spec). Sometimes you might find something new yourself that you can share to the community and see if it stands or not, but I don’t think that you can figure out everything alone or wing it during fights.

SimC, Shadowcraft, Ask Mr. Robot sim lately, Ravenholdt (and rogue discord channel) and MMO-C are my main sources of information. Ofcourse before any encounters I will watch streams or rogue PoV videos so I will have a better understanding of what to expect.

The artifact is a tool integral to each class, just like class talents. There will be a lot of work to have it as prepared as possible before the first raid, as the whole class and encounters will be balanced around it. There are upsides and downsides to investing in a single spec, having also an OS or leveling all 3 at the same time (there is a detailed article about this that shows progress for each option). Since it’s a big decision I would like to take it together with my RL as he or she will do the planning for the raids ahead (wants more Single Target, better AoE – burst or sustained – or more versatility and options for each boss).

It's pre 7.0 but the only difference for legion are the new WAs. Frames, timers, boss warnings etc structure remains the same.

Twilight's Hammer (guild moved there a few months back)

I was raid leading till a few months ago so my attention was divided between timers, raid calls, raid frames, rotation and boss. I am sure any RL can understand the burden it puts on your personal gameplay.

Raiding History:

Describe your previous/current raiding experience:

My first character and main ever since is my rogue. All raiding progress was done with it.
I started raiding in 2006 and i cleared MC, AQ20, ZG and Onyxia in Vanilla. From tBC till WoD I cleared everything in their respective normal/hard mode/heroic/mythic mode while they were current (an exception would be Sha of Fear which died the 5.2 patch day (was about ~10% until then)).

Tell us about your previous guilds and your reasons for leaving them:

Draconian Might, Earthen Ring (Early fall of 2006 till summer of 2007 if i recall correctly):
My first raiding guild. We cleared the first tier instances and up to the 3rd boss of BWL in vanilla and Kharazan in early tBC. Guild disbanded due to not having enough active players.

Might of the Horde/Aeon, Earthen Ring (summer 2007-Oct 2008):
I joined MotH and continued raiding with them throughout tBC. On September of 2008 Might of the Horde merged with Ad Noctum (the then 1st and 2nd Horde guild in the server) to form Aeon and continue raiding in Sunwell Plateau and beyond.
Due to the very high amount of players from the merge and a new 5-day schedule (from 3 we had in MotH) I decided to move to a less crowded guild with fewer raid days.

Origin, Turalyon (Oct 2008 - Summer 2009):
The guild lost too many members during the summer of 2009 and mid-way through Ulduar hard modes (Mimiron specifically) it disbanded.

Aeon, Earthen Ring/Twilight's Hammer (Summer 2009 - today):
I re-joined Aeon as I had still many friends in the guild and also have reduced their raid schedule to 4d/week.
At the end of Firelands due to recruitment problems and people leaving for SWTOR, the guild had to switch to 10-man. I was also promoted to raid leader at first and to guild master a few months after.

We continued as 10m until WoD where we changed to 20m for Mythic. Last fall I stepped down from GM and raid leader and continued as an officer for the remainder of the expansion.

Since last December the new GM was informed that I would be not continuing with Aeon in the next expansion as I felt a progress-oriented guild with 3 raid days max would be a better fit.

More Information:

Can you meet our raid schedule of Wed/Thur/Mon 21:00 to 00:00 server time with at least 90% attendance?

Yes. I can stay a bit longer if for example we are close to a kill or want to clear the instance.
I have a few business trips each year, but I will inform in advance for any absences.

We are raiding Sundays at start of each Tier for 3-4 weeks. Are you aware of it?

Yes, there is no problem with that even if it is extended for a few more weeks.

Are you able to Listen and Speak on Teamspeak?

Yes, to both.

What qualities do you bring to a Raid?

I consider myself a reliable and dedicated team player. I follow the tactics the raid leader has set and if I make a mistake I will try to find the reason so it won’t happen. I won’t play as a glass cannon that risks everything for his own dps meter or ranks and I would be happy to do any special tasks the encounter needs (interrupt rotations, soaking etc).

How do you feel about progression raiding?

PvE progress is the main reason I play. The craziness and the shouts of a first kill is what this game is about for me. I don’t care about gear (it is only a guild tool to help you defeat the next encounter), sitting out as needed for class stacking, or wipes - I should have amassed around 15.000 wipes during the last 10 years of raiding so I am pretty immune to them.

Where did you hear about Curse of Years and do you know anyone in the guild?

Through WoWProgress. I am afraid I don’t know anyone in the guild.

What encouraged you to apply to Curse of Years?

I liked the information and vibe I got from your site and kill videos. Also your raid schedule and game approach are perfect for me.

Do you play outside of raid?

Yes, mainly for achievements although I have some archeology or pet battles runs when I am really bored. I do very little PvP (for achievements again) and alts are just to support my main with their professions.
My played time on my rogue is 530d / 77d at 100 level

Is there anything else you'd like to add to your application?

I have in my youtube page several kill videos from my PoV, mainly from MoP but also Blackhand and Archimonde first Mythic kills, which are more relevant.

Tell us a joke:

Bob goes to the doctor to see what’s wrong with him
- Bob, I am afraid I have very bad news, you have only 3 days to live
- I would like a second opinion doctor
- You are also ugly
