General:

Your Name, Age, Gender and Location:
Hey, I'm Becca [which would have been hard to figure out otherwise right ;)], female, and I'm 25 from the UK.

Tell us a little bit about yourself (non-WoW related Interests, Hobbies etc)
Oh god, this is the bit that I hate... talking about myself. So, I'm a teacher who plays far too much wow. Like, way way too much. Other than that, I love to bake, cook, and eat. It's not uncommon to be like 'Sure I'll tank that 10 for you... but we either wait 15 mins or I'll need 30 seconds to take these pastries out of the oven' ...but obviously I won't be baking in the middle of the raid, don't worry about that.

Describe your choice of talents and why you've chosen them:
My choice of talents will be the standard talents for a given fight. Mage tends to be pretty cookie cutter with obvious right/wrong talents, at least at the moment. Right now, that's Searing Touch/Shimmer/Rune/FO/Frenetic Speed/Conflag/Meteor for fire and Ro3/Shimmer/Rune/CU/CS/TotM/OP in Arcane.
Pyroclasm actually sims slightly ahead of meteor in a lot of cases for fire, but adds a significant amount of RNG and forces you to spend over 3 seconds hardcasting pyroblast in order to obtain that additional damage, thus making it rather unsuitable for progression when meteor is almost as good in optimal conditions and considerably more reliable.
Firestarter is also a potential play on Ashvane, maximising DPS in the first minute of the fight at the cost of not having your mobility+execute later. It became objectively worse in my previous guild as we remained doing the 3-shield tactic and so had the boss sub-30% for over two minutes for the entire third shield, and would be worse in a guild that's attempting to two-phase ashvane due to only giving a large amount of damage on the shield in the first minute, and almost no benefit to the boss's real HP.

How do you prioritize your stats and why?
Topgear sim on raidbots, because there's really no more accurate way to judge gear than actually simming all of the options you have available to you. Then there's some minor common sense needed, such as shifting away from critical strike for fire if the only relevant part of the fight is in execute due to searing touch guaranteeing scorch crits. Arcane has some other issues such as needing 1-2% more haste in reality to execute a given number of arcane blasts inside AP and so right by the haste breakpoints the topgear sim is unreliable in that regard.
Obviously, I farmed socketed versions of each benthic piece I could because they're significantly stronger than other gear, barring the frost damage wrists, as the pufferfish wrists are superior on 2+ targets, only barely behind on single target, and I simply didn't have enough pearls.

Where do you acquire knowledge about your Class?
Mostly from the mage discord, as well as looking over logs from other mages who are performing well to check things like cooldown timings. Anything that can be simmed, I will have simmed because cold hard data is always nice to have; Bloodmallet and the like are useful indicators, but they're never as useful as doing sims tailored to your own character and setup.

https://www.warcraftlogs.com/character/eu/kazzak/beccasummons#zone=21&partition=2 -- Here are my warlock's logs from BoD, after I changed main to it midway through the tier when my guild's warlocks all quit.

Raiding History:

Describe your previous/current raiding experience:
Current tier is 6/8M cleared (Both on Mage and on Warlock), 100ish pulls on Za'qul (~18% best, wiping to the second delirium add)
My guild didn't raid Crucible, choosing to get more people Jaina mounts and relax rather than bash our heads against it.
9/9M BoD (Warlock) and 8/9M (Mage)
8/8M Uldir (Mage)
Prior to this expansion, I didn't really raid seriously due to prioritising my education. I have various incomplete tiers from MoP through Legion, with a Cutting Edge in Emerald Nightmare because lets face it, everyone got that if they were playing.

Tell us about your previous guilds and your reasons for leaving them:
Hoax-Kazzak -- The guild stopped raiding today after the officer team felt burnout and didn't want to do it at all, so I have no choice really when I want to raid. I was in here at the start of Uldir, for the entirety of BoD, and this tier until today. This was the first 'serious' raiding guild I intended to finish a tier in, after being in various guilds with friends / casually raiding (W1000-1200ish level) during Legion and previously while in education.
Santa Maria-Kazzak -- I was in here for a couple of months to finish off the tier Uldir after Hoax took a break after their Zul kill. I left them over Christmas as Hoax was resuming raiding in BoD due to the raid leader returning from his months long trip to India. (The raid leader who called a break in Uldir was only doing it temporarily while this guy was out of the country.

More Information:

Can you meet our raid schedule of Wed/Thur/Mon 21:00 to 00:00 server time with at least 90% attendance?
Yup. Once per term, (Which are roughly 3 months long) I'll probably be missing the Thursday raid due to parents evening at work, but I know that well in advance and can give warning of it.

We also raid on Sunday at the start of a new raiding tier. Are you aware of this?
Yeah.

Are you able to Listen and Speak on Teamspeak?
Yes.

What qualities do you bring to a Raid?
Oh bother, another bit talking about myself...
I'm someone who brings her best efforts to the raid, and always comes prepared with ample consumables both for myself and for other raiders who are lacking them. I'll put in the time outside of raid to make sure my character is ready, and read up on the fights in advance. Part of that involves having multiple 'almost' ready alts that can be brought in if the need is there; I've played 6M on both mage and warlock this tier and have also played my prot paladin as the soak tank on Ashvane when people have been unable to attend. I'm also able to be vocal and make calls, and have experience raid leading.

How comfortable are you playing your offspecs?
I'm willing to play them, although obviously they're going to be a little rusty at any point where I've mostly been playing one spec. I'd likely need a little time to get used to them on a given fight to align cooldowns and such, but given advance notice that I would be required to play X spec on a fight, I'd be able to do that research prior to the raid.

How do you feel about progression raiding?
I love it. If it wasn't for raiding, I wouldn't still be playing this game anymore. Mythic plus feels a little lackluster compared to what it was in legion, due to the class changes, dungeon design, and inability to change gear, but the raid encounters remain top notch.

Where did you hear about Curse of Years and do you know anyone in the guild?
Gus and Pope have mentioned it a bunch, so it's the first place I thought to apply when my guild stopped raiding.

What encouraged you to apply to Curse of Years?
Well, if I'm going to be raiding with new people I'd rather have 2 people I know :) And your raid hours are perfect for me, since they give me time to cook dinner and spend time with my partner after I get home from work before raiding.

Do you play outside of raid?
Far too much. As well as my mage and lock at 65 neck, I have a paladin and warrior at 62.5 from playing m+ on them, and a Druid at 60. I've also lead a bunch of boost raids for Oblivion, and tend to do one or two of those per week as well as a bunch of m+.

Is there anything else you'd like to add to your application?
It's very obvious that my logs aren't amazing. They're okay, and some are pretty nice, but overall they aren't incredible. That's in part because I started out this tier maining my warlock--https://www.warcraftlogs.com/character/eu/kazzak/beccasummons#--,which is also 65 neck and also has full socketed benthic.
Immediately following our Queen's Court kill toward the middle of August, both of my guild's mages stopped raiding with Hoax and I was shoehorned into the role. Not that it matters to you guys I guess, but one went social and became focused on m+, the other went to another guild with a higher world ranking. Due to me having mained mage in Uldir and BoD--and because nobody else had one even close to ready--I ended up switching mains to my mage. I then had to jump straight into mythic on a spec I hadn't played since Uldir, and with an item level in the mid 420s. Most of my logs are still with sub430 ilevel (though I'm above that now) and all of them are with less than 65 neck (which again I now have).
As an aside, Warlock was also only my main because in BoD while I was maining my mage, both of them quit and I had to swap over to provide summons and healthstones. So in short, I'm pretty flexible. I keep a bunch of characters close to raid ready and am willing to switch to them to suit the needs of a raidteam.
And yes, I have a lot of arcane logs. I'm the one person who actually likes it, and while it's not the best right now it's more than suitable for early farm and heroic. Obviously I'll play fire for progress... or maybe orb build frost for Za'qul if the adds are a problem.

Tell us a joke:
Gus's choice of tanks. Seriously, who makes a GUARDIAN DRUID his main alt??
