Your Name, Age, Gender and Location:

Kiril, 25, male, Heidelberg, Germany.

Tell us a little bit about yourself (non-WoW related Interests, Hobbies etc):

I currently study Political science in the University of Heidelberg and I work in a catering firm as a side job to help out with expenses. My non-WoW hobbies are a bit bland, I guess - I like music ( favourite band is Muse, although I like a lot of different styles ), literature and obviously hanging out with with buddies. The rest of my free time I spend on WoW, although I do play a bit of Hearthstone as well.

Describe your choice of talents and why you've chosen them:

It is very difficult for me to do so, as I switch talents/legendaries depending on an encounter. Generally the highest dps talents are pretty set for both of the mage specs I use.
The highest single target dps output build for arcane currently is using Soul of the Archmage/Shard of the Exodar + Tier 20 2 set and Tier 21 4 set with the talent Resonance. However that build is very dependant on fight length and also very mana intensive, hence another build is required for fights where Bloodlust/Time Warp is not used on pull - that one uses the legendary Mystic Kilt of the Rune Master and Soul of the Archmage and the talent Charged Up, while using Tier 21 4 set and some offpieces. It is the better build for longer fights/cleave fights/fights where Lust is not used on pull, since it provides more mana in the long run and more cleave damage. For AoE fights, I use a similar build, using the legendary Mantle of the First Kirin Tor, as it makes taking Arcane Orb redundant and allows usage of Overpowered, and the talent Resonance, since it pulls ahead on 4+ targets over Charged up.
In terms of utility talents, Chrono Shift provides a really welcome movement speed boost when using Arcane Barrage, which helps with mobility outside of Blink; Slipstream allows for even more mobility when casting Arcane Missles and Evocation, hence why I am not taking Shimmer.
For frost the only notable changes in talents are between Frozen Touch/Splitting Ice ( when cleaving is detrimental, for example Aggramar ) and the Level 75 tier which really depends on the strategy used for an encounter ( for example Ring of Frost for Coven adds/ Frigid Winds for slowing the Aggramar adds, etc. etc. )

How do you prioritize your stats and why?

I use simulationcraft to generate my stat weights, doing so after every change in the gear I use.

What state is your Artifact in?

79 traits in Arcane, 78 in Frost, 75 in Fire.

Where do you acquire knowledge about your Class?

Warcraftlogs and Simulationcraft, mostly. At the start/before the start of the tier I check the mage discord for the research and theorycrafting. Bloodmallet is another rough source for trinkets/relics, but I mostly sim those. I use Peak of Serenity for windwalker information.

Raiding History:

Describe your previous/current raiding experience:

I started playing WoW during Warlords of Draenor. I had the impression that this game provides the best raiding experience. I started playing really late during the HFC tier, so I mostly pugged heroic on several characters ( Discipline Priest and Windwalker Monk) until Legion came out. At that point I really wanted to raid mythic, so I started searching for a guild on Stormscale. I joined Titanias Electi during Emerald Nightmare where I played Windwalker. After some lackluster progress and inconsistent attendance, they decided to merge with another guild called Band of Brotherhood at the end of EN/beginning of ToV. Sadly there were still some inconsistencies roster-wise and the real notable progress started during Nighthold, where we managed to reach Botanist. During that tier, the raiding atmosphere was not enjoyable for me, so I decided to leave and join RNG rekt me.

Tell us about your previous guilds and your reasons for leaving them:

I was an officer in a guild called RNG rekt me on Stormscale. That guild was formed very late in Nighthold and it managed to kill Star Augur before the next tier came out. I joined the guild in the beginning of Tomb of Sargeras as a trial and in the span of that tier, we managed to kill Avatar one week before Antorus came out, at which point I became an officer in it. Sadly the guild disbanded upon reaching Aggramar, even though we managed to hit second phase reliably in one night. After that I joined Dead Weight, a guild that had recently transferred to Stormscale from Bloodhoof. When I joined, they were progressing Varimathras and we managed to reach Aggramar again. After some key members of it left, mainly both blood death knights, they decided to stop raiding as well.

More Information:

Can you meet our raid schedule of Wed/Thur/Mon 21:00 to 00:00 server time with at least 90% attendance?

I believe I will be able to and if I happen to have to miss a raid night, I will warn in advance.

We are raiding Sundays at start of each Tier for 3-4 weeks. Are you aware of it?

Yes, that is not an issue for me.

Are you able to Listen and Speak on Teamspeak?

Yes.

What qualities do you bring to a Raid?

I like to think I am very fast when it comes to learning a fight and understanding the different aspects of it. I try to be as knowledgable as possible when it comes to an encounter and doing research for it is actually interesting for me as well. Given that, I believe I am able to very quickly identify what is needed to kill the boss and make split second decisions based on that. I am also a very tilt-proof player, I rarely get burnt out and I am able to keep performing calmly regardless of wipe count.

How comfortable are you playing your offspecs?

Very comfortable. I've often resorted to learning specs that excell and thrive in different encounters, for example I played fire for my former guild's Avatar kill and recently I've been playing frost in heroic and mythic fights, as I see it is a really good spec for the later bosses in the current tier.

How do you feel about progression raiding?

Progression is the reason why I raid mythic. For me learning the different aspects of an encounter and then performing them well enough to kill a boss is the most enjoyable part of this game. The strategy of dealing with the callenging mechanics mythic bosses provide and utilizing different class abilities to those more easily managable is also very interesting for me.

Where did you hear about Curse of Years and do you know anyone in the guild?

I received a message from Nagassh on wowprogress.

What encouraged you to apply to Curse of Years?

I've had the unfortunate luck of having my previous 2 guilds disbanding in the span of a month. A key part of what motivated me to apply for your guild is the fact that it has been very consistent this expansion and I have the impression that it is in a very stable condition.

Do you play outside of raid?

Yes, I maintain a Windwalker monk alt that is viable for mythic fights, I have played it on Kin'garoth progression with my previous guiild. Outside of that, I do some mythic + keys although I haven't focused on attaining a high enough mythic + score.

Is there anything else you'd like to add to your application?

I'd like to thank you for taking the time to read it and apologize if it felt like rambling at any point!

Tell us a joke:

A couple is walking home from a late night out and they happen to pass by a cemetery. All of a sudden a dark figure carrying a hammer and a chisel appears close to the woman. "Oh my god, you scared me! I thought you were a ghost!" she says, while the figure without a word kneels down in front one of the tombstones and starts hammering. "What are you doing?!" the couple ask, while the figure, without stopping simply responds, "These assholes spelled my name wrong."
