Recruitment

Frost Mage / Prot Pally

If you wish to apply to us, this is the place for you!

by Holte » 25 May 2016, 07:32

Your name, age, gender and location:
Mark, age 48, male from England

Character info:
Holte, level 100 Undead Frost Mage, or
Bubblicious, level 100 Blood Elf Prot Paladin

Role - Your preferred raid role and any offspec:

Mage – Predominantly frost, flexible on offspec (arcane seems to be looking good in Legion beta but, remains to be seen on release)
Paladin – Tank. Off spec, again flexible here, though I'm not that experienced as a healer.

Character related information:
Glyphs & talents - Pick two encounters and describe which talents and glyphs (and possibly spec) you use, and why:

This is where my application may fall down but, I'm applying anyway. As you will see from my raiding experience below, I'm recently returning to the game after a near 7 year hiatus (work and relationship brought about my departure from the game back then). Having been in a server first competing guild at the time (Maligned on Arathor, if anyone remembers it), I really want to get back into serious raiding and would like to be in a guild that is setup for that with the impending release of Legion. I can list what glyphs/talents I'm using now though I'm still researching optimal setups for both classes on the usual sites (Wowhead, MMO Champion, Noxxic as a starting point – progressing to more serious raid guild sites for more specific advice) and via videos / Twitch.

Stats - How do you prioritise your stats?
For the Mage – Multistrike = Crit > Haste > Versatility > Mastery
For the Paladin – Bonus Armour > Mastery > Haste > Crit > Versatility > Multistrike

Class knowledge - Where do you acquire information and knowledge about your class? :
I listed the sites I'm using in the above explanation

UI screenshot
This is a work in progress as, unsurprisingly, a lot of the addons I used to use no longer exist. I'll add a picture shortly. I have DBM and Details. Still getting to grips with WeakAuras2.

Logs
None as of yet in either case, will work on that. Logs weren't a thing back then.

Raiding experience - Describe your past/current raid experience:
Vanilla – Ony/MC/BWL/ZG/AQ20/AQ40 all cleared
TBC – Kara/TK/SSC/BT/MH all cleared
(All of the above was done as a frost mage)

WoD
Trying to get some experience in this now, as a warm up for Legion progress

Raiding times - Can you meet our raid schedule of Wed/Thur/Mon 21:00 to 00:00 server time? (Optional raid on Sunday). Note that on start we raid of tier Wed/Thu/Mon/Sun and then push Heroic on Sunday as optional raid:
Can attend all 4 days, no problem at all.

Teamspeak
Yes

Value - What qualities do you bring to a raid?
Dedication, focus and perseverance. I'm very familiar with the pain of pushing progression, albeit a few expansions ago. On a lighter note, maturity (obviously) and a good sense of humour. Not afraid to talk on Teamspeak when required.

Motivation & attitude - Share how you feel about progression raiding.
I've missed the raiding more than anything about this game. The camaraderie and ultimately, elation when things go right or a breakthrough is made. The pulling together to push through difficult tests.

Faults - What are your faults in relation to raiding?

I guess I'll say inexperience of the newer content / mechanics, though I'm looking into those to get a handle on the kind of things Blizzard is throwing at us these days. As an officer back in the day, I was a little sharp with people making stupid mistakes on occasion but, that sort of came with the position. As a member, that wouldn't be an issue.

Curse of Years - Where did you hear about us? What encouraged you to apply?
I was looking for a serious guild on Arathor and as the community in the major cities is far from what it was back then, I went to WowProgress to see who was pushing the envelope on Arathor and here we are with me applying.

Last Words - Is there anything else you would like to say?

I realise this is going to sound like a sketchy application with my lack of recent experience but, I'm just looking for a chance to get back to the level I was at before and am more that prepared to put in the work to get there.

Guilty pleasure - What do you get excited about (non WoW related)?

Live music (more unsigned independent artists/bands than mainstream stuff), eSports viewing (LoL and CS:GO for the most part)

Hi Mark,

Many thanks for the application. Unfortunately we are unable to give you a trial at this time as we are not currently in a position to take on a player without the necessary gear to raid the later bosses on mythic. We'd encourage you to re-apply in the future when you've gained more experience perhaps.

Regards,
Eremor

No, that sounds reasonable. I'll reapply at 110 once Legion is out and in full swing. Of the two, which would you prefer I focus on?

To clarify, I'm not offering a promise of a spot in any way once you've hit 110. Come legion our roster could be very different and I can't say what we would/wouldn't need. The biggest issue is with your recent tier experience, if anything I'd encourage you to apply to another guild who is in a position to give you this experience for the time being, rather than just focusing on getting a spot here. I wish you the best with this search!

Any issues, feel free to contact me in game by Eremor#2248

Regards,
Eremor.
