General:

Your Name, Age, Gender and Location:
Chris / 23 / Male / UK

Tell us a little bit about yourself (non-WoW related Interests, Hobbies etc)
I would be lying if I said I have extensive hobbies outside of gaming, other than going to the pub with friends most of my social time is spent in WoW or other games. Solo-hobbies I do enjoy are running (3-4 times a week) and lifting weights (at home, gyms are way too expensive where I live). Other than that, I'm an engineering Graduate and I'm very interested in physics and sci-fi and sometimes my technical background is surprisingly useful in gaming which is always fun when this occurs :)

Describe your choice of talents and why you've chosen them:
I mean as a Warlock - specifically affliction - there really is only one talent spec to run right now with the exception of SLG Mythic and ONLY if you are assigned to killing the waiters in Council of Blood. Other than these specific times right now the standard affliction spec is BiS in all likely current and future Mythic encounters.

Destro has some meaningful choices but even destro has a BiS single-target spec and a more versatile AOE spec.

How do you prioritize your stats and why?

Int > Mastery => Haste > Crit > Vers

It seems maybe slightly patronising to you guys to explain why this is the case but here's a short explanation for a layperson:
Primary stat is BiS for basically every class in the game by a long way (hopefully they continue this going forward so ilvl upgrades are always upgrades), Mastery is the best ST (single target) for warlocks and if you want to know why then read what it does. It's also the best for doing damage in AOE but haste is also great for the usual reasons as well as helping DoT-ing up targets faster...

Crit and Vers are obviously not as important for aff for obvious reasons.

Where do you acquire knowledge about your Class?
Personal experience from playing the game on and off for a very long time. Sims are useful to a point. Icyveins and Wowhead warlock class guides are mostly accurate so these are also kind of useful. Warcraft logs is probably the best tool to see what's really working for other warlocks and examining exactly why in the nitty-gritty detail as guides and sims can be misleading. WIth regards to warcraft logs obviously most of the top logs are padded but with this in mind seeing what they do can be useful.

Ignore the denathrius log or atleast take into account: (1) I was dead for 34 seconds longer than I should have been because the outside healers were OOM and did not call for an innervate fast enough to top people up for the last blood price and a few people died and I was not CR'd (2) I was not part of progress on that fight because as a trial prio went to the Warlock officer and the Full-member Warlock. They did not deem 3 warlocks worth it. So I literally have only 6 wipes and 1 kill XP on this fight so I was having to learn it much faster than normal.

Raiding History:

Describe your previous/current raiding experience:
My main guild I raided with for top 200 placements in WotLK and Cata disbanded just after we cleared tier-13 because the main officer core had become very bored of the game and sticking it around to hangout "with the boys" just wasn't enough anymore and IRL things took prio. I did some PvP after this on Stormscale and eventually quit the game myself and I've been playing A LOT of FPS like CoD and Fortnite in the meantime... I've won quite a few low-cash tournaments online through Gamebattles and CMG through these games. After coming back to the game I have worked super hard to really get back into it, including rerolling to a class I had NEVER played before up to this point in WoW and getting a top 500 WR cutting edge title.

I can absolutely get better and I am nowhere near my skill ceiling yet and I'm still noticing massive improvements week-on-week as I get more used to playing this game again. I would be genuinely suprised if many people could quit for 3 whole expansions and return to the game and still be able to perform to a high standard. This may read like I have a huge ego, this is far from the case, I just expect a lot from myself and I am extremely self-critical (perhaps too much at times) of myself.

Tell us about your previous guilds and your reasons for leaving them:
WotLK and Cata:
I was in the best guild in server on Trollbane-EU and we got every single realm 1st achievement from tier 9 onwards, it was a great guild with great people and we had several guild IRL meetups and we all got on pretty well and to this day I still talk regularly to many of them

Shadowlands:
I joined <Raze> on Twisting Nether for SL and almost immediately I did not like the GM at all. I made really good friends with a few people straight away and outside of WoW we played a lot of Hearthstone and Mythic+ together but this GM immediately rubbed me up the wrong way and I feel a lot of the members who I spoke to privately about him if he came up felt the same way about his attitude but because this guild had a lot of players who had been there a long time and progress was normally relatively good they had all made their beds and they were content to sleep in them. But a few weeks ago he was being a huge arsehole to me and another person in the raid for literally zero reason and it was about something which was non wow related and it was completely unacceptable behaviour and things from then on were untenable and I left recently.

To give you some more background on this guy:
He was a very average healer, he caused us to cancel raids for an entire week for an unannounced absence which he NEVER apologised for, he was always late and he regularly died to things like upheaval on SLG (26 times during progression) and he would regularly take some sick pleasure for calling people out for things that he almost certainly had also done wrong.

So yeah, this guild was full of great people but somehow this dude was their GM and I could not play with him anymore after the way he spoke to people.

Current guild: I recently joined a guild who are 9/10 because I know a guy here who said to me I could come raid with them in the meantime if I wanted because they do sometimes struggle with numbers and he said I'd be doing him a favour as much as anything else

More Information:

Can you meet our raid schedule of Wed/Thur/Mon 21:00 to 00:00 server time with at least 90% attendance?
I will have 100% attendance

We also raid on Sunday at the start of a new raiding tier. Are you aware of this?
Yes and this is great!

Are you able to Listen and Speak on Teamspeak?
Yes

What qualities do you bring to a Raid?
I am super chilled, I will never flame anyone and if I see someone makes a mistake I will always try my best to be constructive with this person and never be negative as this helps nobody. I have a dark sense of humour as well as self-deprecating so I can definitely bring people up when people are down. I can do callouts without it effecting my gameplay through years of FPS practice. I also do a great Gollum impression :)

How comfortable are you playing your offspecs?
Destro, very comfortable
Demo, not as comfortable but compared to affliction it's VERY easy and in the unlikely event it was ever meta I'm sure after a short adjustment period I could make the switch

How do you feel about progression raiding?
I've never thought about this question before in this way.... Erm.... I mean I enjoy it? I wish Blizzard would make encounters that got easier if you had more DPS and the Mythic SLG style of encounter is not something I think is healthy for high end raiders where actually slowing down DPS for huge amounts of time and punishing you for being better and getting better gear is stupid but on the whole I have always enjoyed it ever since I raided BT in TBC when I was in my young teens.

Where did you hear about Curse of Years and do you know anyone in the guild?
I received a DM on WoWProgress saying I should consider applying

What encouraged you to apply to Curse of Years?
I had a brief scan of your WoWProgress page and had a bit more of a friendly stalk and you guys seemed both good and stable

Do you play outside of raid?
Yes if people want to play with me I will always be down for anything WoW related on alts or mains, PvE or PvP. I'm currently just under 2k rating in RBGs but we were playing at 2300MMR so that would be great to get back into AND it's a great way to gear up next tier for people.

Is there anything else you'd like to add to your application?
Parts of this application may sound arrogant or perhaps a little cocky, I would like to ensure you this is FAR from the truth, quite the opposite in fact. I am incredibly humble but I am also very, very self-critical - it is not uncommon for me to genuinely go to bed annoyed if I feel like I have let people down on a wipe or something - I suppose this is good and bad depending on how you look at it. Other than that, you will not find many trials who will come to the raid as prepared as me both with full knowledge of the fights and exactly how the guild intends to do them.

Tell us a joke:

I feel like my dark sense of humour might offend some people so to be on the safe side I will tell my funniest WoW dad joke:

What do you call a druid who melees in tree form?

A combat log.

Sorry for the stupidly late reply, had a bunch of stuff going on not that that's an adequate excuse.

Application declined.
