Describe your choice of talents and why you've chosen them:
15 - Always Echo of the Elements, no debate here.
25 - EB is just better in general, lots of maelstorm (especially with windspeaker build up, nice niche buff. Aftershock however can be quite good with the Echoes legendary but is rather proc dependent.
30 - Always spirit wolf, other 2 don't really do much for raiding
40 - All a fairly useful here. Nature's guardian I would use the most for general survivability. If more movement buffs are required for the raid Wind Rush is an easy option to do so. If there is a specificly intensively healing phase AG can be a little help to the healers.
45 - Surge of Power not so good but the other are heavily discussed within the Elemental Community. Personally I prefer PE in pretty much all scenarios especially with Windspeaker because of how the rotation works, Icefury adds too many elements that wouldn't be able to be used properly within a proper raiding environment. It may sim higher in a patchwork environment but in reality I don't believe it as optimal as PE. On more constant movement fights though it is a bit better though.
50 - Stormkeeper in every scenario, it outshines them both in DPS for single target and aoe.
How do you prioritize your stats and why?
Right now with the WS legendary Versa/Haste/Mastery sim fairly close with eachother based on your current stats. Crit is a bit lower than them due to it not scaling with LvB which is the highest damage spell. For AoE and the EoGs legendary Crit/Haste are the highest prio stats. I'm always simming on Raidbots to find my current stat weights and comparing gear whilst looking for the optimum upgrades.
Where do you acquire knowledge about your Class?
The first is Warcraft logs, constantly checking the logs of other Ele shammys to see what they are doing differently to myself to get ideas of how to do things better, as well as reviewing my own to spot my own improvements I can make. It has been and always is the best way to improve your DPS. It just provides al lthe information you'd need to find out how someone is doing more damage than you. Second is the Elemental Discord which I browse and contribute a lot with other Ele's to get their input on suggestions/ideas. Lastly Raidbots, using it to sim for gear upgrades/stat weights/talent options etc.

https://www.warcraftlogs.com/character/eu/tarren-mill/moffchamp#difficulty=3 - CN logs, I would say pay more attention to the Normal ones since they were all done in my current guild whilst all of the Heroics were PUGs (a bit more messy). I know they are only normal but for instance the Rank 1 I got on Sludge is still decent as it required perfect timing of CD's during Pillar phases.

Tell us about your previous guilds and your reasons for leaving them:
2007-2009 - Heretic - Nagrand - Too long ago to remember all the details but raided to the point of completing every raid at the highest level before the next tier (aka before Curve) apart from Sunwell. Left when I took a break from the game during ICC prog. Rank unknown.
2013-2015 - Quelm-Nagrand - Applied for a fairly decent guild without recent experience to show it and was quickly able to prove myself. Joined mid way through MoP during progression and stayed until the start of WoD (where I found myself not contempt with the competitiveness of the guild so seeked a higher challenge). In WoD cleared 7/7M in Highmaul. Was about a top 800 Guild and I was officer for my last few months.
2015 - Pieces - Grim Batol - This is when they were a top 30 guild and on this server, I seeked a challenge and made a jump for a highly competitive guild. Luckily at the time I had the logs to prove myself worthy and joined before progression of BRF opened up. Got up to 9/10M but decided to leave as they were raiding every day (which was not advertised at the time!) including during the day which I decided after experiencing it for a while was too much for me to raid that often. As you can imagine a lot was required to be a raider during prog in this kind of guild and I felt I performed well within my time there and was happy I got to experience this as I learned a lot from it.
2015 - Pure - Turalyon - After Pieces I wanted to find a decent enough guild but one that didn't raid as often! They were a nice 3 day raiding guild with high caliber players, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time. Joined at the start of HFC and did 11/13M in this guild but had to stop raiding due to having to move places (no internet for months!!) and ended up taking a long break from the game with this. It was a top 100 guild.
2020 - Current Confusion- Tarren Mill - Since returning in Shadowlands joined my IRL friend's guild, very casual only done Castle Nathria 10/10N, 5/10 HC (Have had to pug the final 5). It's been fun but obviously not at the level I want/have experienced in the past.
More Information:
Can you meet our raid schedule of Wed/Thur/Mon 21:00 to 00:00 server time with at least 90% attendance?
Absolutely, will always be 100%.
We also raid on Sunday at the start of a new raiding tier. Are you aware of this?
Yes, I love the idea of a 3 day raiding guild that does a little bit more at the start of each tier.
Are you able to Listen and Speak on Teamspeak?
Yes
What qualities do you bring to a Raid?
I know that I am a very reliable raider who can be counted on to consistently perform at a high level. My biggest strength is my DPS I am able to produce as I am very keen on outputting the maximum DPS possible (without cheesing of course). Aside from that I don't make the same mistake twice and rarely find myself being the reason for a bad pull/wipe. That being said I am always able to take feedback on anything if someone feels that I can improve somewhere. I feel like I work perform at my highest under pressure, especially when it can get messy nearing a 1st kill.
I've had experience raiding in top tier guilds in the past (see above) and I've performed at a high level within those which is why I am confident in what I can bring to a raiding team. As you'll also see below I have recently returned to Raiding after a long break (which is the main reason I am applying), which you could consider concerning but I already know I'm back to the level I was at before in terms of performance and to be honest I've never been more motivated. I think my gear shows this as I'm currently 213 ilev without being in a guild that properly raids heroic.
How comfortable are you playing your offspecs?
Not very, however with the right requirement it is something I could work towards.
How do you feel about progression raiding?
I love it, having experienced it a lot over the years in very different enviroment I know what it takes to suceed. The feeling of killing a boss after countless wipes is always incredible, honestly I'm really craving it right now. I love experiencing a fight and improving between every pull. For instance finding the perfect time to use each specific cooldown or trying a new variation on a different pull or even limit testing during a wipe to see if its possible to get a certain cast off before a swirly underneath you will trigger. I understand that mistakes happen from people, no one is perfect.
Where did you hear about Curse of Years and do you know anyone in the guild?
I saw you guys on Wowprogress whilst looking for the right guild to apply too. I don't know anyone but if my application was successful I'm hoping that would change quickly as I consider myself a friendly socialable person.
What encouraged you to apply to Curse of Years?
Pretty much fits all my criteria for a raiding guild I'd want to be apart of. The raiding schedule is perfect for me, the level of competitiveness is high enough and a respectable rank. Your expectations of raiders being high but not crazily high requiring extreme requirements.
Do you play outside of raid?
Yes, definitely playing WoW a lot at the moment. Trying to do as many M+ as possible especially for the weekly chest. Been doing some PvP do to improve the lower pieces of gear I had. I play my alt a lot (195 ilev hunter) which I am currently working towards gearing better.
Is there anything else you'd like to add to your application?
I would really love the opporutinty to prove myself worthy of a trial in this guild. I know I have what it takes and can assure you that it's something that you could look back on and be glad you took this chance with me. Please reach out to me if you have any further questions. Thanks for taking the time to read my application.
