General:

Your Name, Age, Gender and Location:

Peter, 28, male, England (lincolnshire)

Tell us a little bit about yourself (non-WoW related Interests, Hobbies etc)
I work at an aquarium in hull called "The Deep" as a dive saftey officer. I love playing music on piano or guitar or any instrument really! try to socialise as much as i can outside of raid. I'm involved in a few different sports from football (normal) to rollerderby (pretty unusual!). I think i'm a pretty easy to get along with guy.

Battletag: Furiouspete#21532

Describe your choice of talents and why you've chosen them:
BM talents are fairly cookie cutter.

Level 15: Killer Instincts 90% of the time. For pure single-target situations, I might use Animal Companion synergized with the Level 100 Talent Killer Cobra for a small single-target DPS boost (500-1000 DPS in sims or so).

Level 30: One with the Pack, this ties heavily into the Crit explanation above, vastly increasing Crit’s value, Barbed Shot procs etc.

Level 45: It depends a bit on the fight. I’ll usually go Natural Mending for prog as it can give me an Exhilaration I might otherwise not have had. For some scenarios, like Orgozoa’s intermission, Trailblazer is nice for getting there quickly.

Level 60: A Murder of Crows - it just does more damage, it’s not even close.

Level 75: Usually Posthaste for the mobility, but on low-mobility, high-survivability bosses I might go Born to be Wild (Aspect of the Turtle CD reduction primarily).

Level 90: Stomp - it just works.

Level 100: Aspect of the Beast by default (also gives me extra max health with my Spirit Beast pet out), but on pure single-target I may use Killer Cobra combined with Animal Companion from Level 15!

How do you prioritize your stats and why?

Crit is the mainstat for BM Hunters in the current meta, as it increases the amount of Wild Call procs I get, which resets the cooldown of Barbed Shot entirely.

This synergizes well with the #1 Trait - Dance of Death, which gives Barbed Shot a chance to give me a huge Agility buff. This chance is also based on my current crit%.

Therefore Crit’s value is sort of self-fulfilling. Not only does it give me more Barbed Shots, it also increases the chance of each of those Barbed Shots of proccing Dance of Death. And currently, the whole spec is basically centered around maximizing uptime on this buff along with Frenzy (which is also helped by more Barbed Shots).

Following Crit, it’s either Haste or Versatility. They are usually similar in value. If I am given an isolated choice, I will usually pick Versatility, as it has a bit of damage reduction too - but having a decent amount of Haste makes the rotation feel a bit more flexible.

Where do you acquire knowledge about your Class?

My knowledge comes from either Azortharions guide on icy veins or using the hunter discord and discussing stuff with other hunters. I'll also use any chance i get to discuss stuff with other hunters in my guild. If i feel i'm behind on anything i shouldn't be then i'll pay for log reviews to figure out the problem. This is most the time with Azortharion.

Raiding History:

Current expansion : Tier 1 Cutting edge - Tier 2 i got upto blockade. It was at this time i had to take leave due to work. I haven't raided since this time. and have just started again.
Before these tiers i started playing again after a long break during Argus. I got upto argus and wiped over 900 times with a day time raiding guild. This was interesting to say the least but i stayed with them until the end of the tier.
Before this io have several cutting edges such as throne of thunder and SoO. Some in WOTLK such as lich king and ulduar.
I don't really consider these older ones that relevant to current tier though.
Describe your previous/current raiding experience: Frustrating. I start to get upto speed and raiding well then work gets in the way. I kept going from guild to guild with similar times between jobs. I feel i'm very good mechanically and tactically. i'm working hard to get my DPS upto scratch so this has been frustrating if i'm not learning fast enough due to the breaks.

Tell us about your previous guilds and your reasons for leaving them:

i was in ethic on ravencrest during MoP. i left these on good terms as i had to take care of some personal issues at the time.
I was in a day time raiding guild for the end of legion. they was called Meridies. It was a pretty bad experience. Daytime raiding doesn't draw in alot of good players and we wiped over 900 times on argus without killing it.
I joined a guild called deliverance for this tier. It was great fun and i really socialised with them in other games. Made alot of friends that i still talk to now. I told them i wanted to leave after the first tier but stayed with them until Blockade on next tier, until they found a replacement. Because i stayed so long we left on great terms. They folded shortly after.

More Information
:

Can you meet our raid schedule of Wed/Thur/Mon 21:00 to 00:00 server time with at least 90% attendance?

Yes! i imagine i'll be at 100% attendance. Theres no reason i can't meet these times as i now have a steady job that allows it. (this was a huge draw about this guild the raiding times)
We also raid on Sunday at the start of a new raiding tier. Are you aware of this?
Yes and Sundays are great!
Are you able to Listen and Speak on Teamspeak?
Yes i communicate well.
What qualities do you bring to a Raid?
During fights I tend to be fairly concentrated and only speak when it is required of me, but I keep a light mood between wipes and during long raid nights I like to think that I have an infectiously positive attitude.
I also bring a concentrated attitude to mechanics and i'm very self critical of myself and any mistakes i make. I hold doing tactics very high in order of things. I will also bring stable high dps.
How comfortable are you playing your offspecs?
I'm very comfortable playing BM or MM but certainly favour BM. I haven't touched SV much but i plan on doing so for PVP. So hopefully i'll be comfortable with all 3 specs before long.
How do you feel about progression raiding?
I love it! i love working hard on something for an extended time and eventually getting the kill with a team. Some nights certainly get harder than others after many wipes. So i try my best to keep a light hearted mood when possible and lift others up.
Where did you hear about Curse of Years and do you know anyone in the guild?
I found it on wowprogress. I've spoken to Gnarl a few times on battlenet but not long at all.
What encouraged you to apply to Curse of Years?
I really like the raid times. The days and also the amount of hours for how high the guild is ranked. It's really appealing to achieve alot with little hours. I think the guild overall sounds like a good fit for me.
Do you play outside of raid?
Yes! i plan on doing alot of mythic + and pvp to hone my skills and become a better hunter. Other than this i'm always up for helping guildies with which ever tasks they're doing.
Is there anything else you'd like to add to your application?
With me you're getting high, reliable attendance, a fun attitude and a solid mechanical player who can also put in big DPS performances. I fit well into pretty much any team, I am an agreeable person who can do shit jobs or damage depending on what is asked of me. Basically, I am dedicated and always improving - being very self-critical. Hunters fit this playstyle well as they are very mobile and the utility is not bad either.
I am flexible and I can play alts if required. As for Hunters specifically, I play whatever spec is best for the fight/tier and have no problems swapping at a moment's notice. If Hunters just completely suck for a tier or something is ridiculously OP, I am also not against swapping.
I'm aware my recent logs aren't that impressive. but mechanically i've been a rock. I'm still getting logs reviews and aiming to improve very fast. I am a very competitive and self-critical player. My goal is to become a top-tier Hunter and player in general, both in raids and in Mythic+. I guess the realistic goal for me is to become a regular orange-purple parser and to make this the "average" for me, and getting the most out of my playtime.

Tell us a joke:

As discussed, due to our current roster and your recent experience, we won't be able to offer you a trial at this point.
Good luck with the guild search and if anything changes in the future you're welcome to reapply.
